Recent data from Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) has revealed that light commercial vehicle (LCV) sales rose by 1.8% in June of this year. The rise came after four consecutive months of decline in registrations.
The figures from SMMT show that 37, 349 vehicles were registered in June, with pick up registrations responsible for a significant portion of this number, with almost 5000 units being registered. Small van registrations also increased in June after declining for the past year. Medium-sized vans saw very healthy growth, with a 29.9% increase for June.
Mike Hawes, SMMT Chief Executive said the following - “After two years of record growth in the new van market, it’s natural to see demand ease as the sector reaches a sustainable running rate. However, as these figures show, the market remains at a high level and we expect similar patterns of demand to continue throughout the year.”
